His recent research has examined: Internet offending; new approaches to treatment of offenders; and the neurobiological basis of offending.
He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and his doctorate in social psychology and sociology from the London School of Economics. His research career spans more than 50 years and he has taught in England, Turkey, Israel and the United States. He has more than 150 publications and has been involved in numerous public sector projects, covering issues of crime analysis, transportation, community economic development, motor vehicle safety and noise abatement. He is the creator of CrimeStat, one of the best known software in the world for the development of crime mapping and geographical profiling.
